New vessel joins MVS fleet

On 27 July 2012, MVS North Ayrshire Unit launched their new training vessel MVS Foundation  (pennant number V323) at the Clyde Marina, Ardrossan.  The boat is 9.14m long, is powered by a Ford Dorset 2711/12E  4 cylinder Diesel , has 4 berths, cooker, sink, all nav lights, internal cabin lights and batteries x 2  that can be charged by diode and solar trickle charger.

MVS Foundation had been purchased in June by HoU Billy Lamb from her present mooring on the River Derwent near York.   After waiting for the right combination of transport and tides to take her first to York Marina, she was lifted onto a boat transport truck to Ardrossan where she was anti-fouled and launched for immediate use.  Her normal berth will be within Clyde Marina, Ardrossan, which is accessible at any tide.

She will be for used by the local MVS Unit as their primary vessel and will be used to train volunteers in boat handling, communications, charts and other aspects of seamanship.   She is also available to be used by other MVS members, so if you fancy a weekend training on the lovely Clyde, please get in touch with the HoU Billy Lamb for further details.
