Merseyside Resilience
The voluntary participants in the Merseyside Resilience Forum who meet under the banner of “Volunteer Agency and Faith Sector Forum” and the Forum’s Chair David Mitchell (Sefton Council’s Emergency Planning Officer), invited the AVO North Chris Todd to introduce the Maritime Volunteer Service to the various partners.
On Thursday 12th July 2012 at the British Red Cross Headquarters in Liverpool, Chris addressed 16 members of the forum. The talk covered the Aims, Objectives and the organisation of the MVS. This was backed with anecdotes of our working in the community – with names changed to protect the innocent of course!
The presentation was followed with the usual Q&A session. Chris commented there were some interesting questions over how we could become more involved with the communities and Local Authorities on both sides of the River Mersey, and was pleased when a member of the forum told him they would pass his contact details to their partner who was also a maritime enthusiast.
At the conclusion, David invited Chris to represent the MVS at future meetings and said “With the organisation of the MVS and Chris’s own background in the Blue Light services and emergency planning, I am sure he will make a useful team member and bring much to the table.”
Editor's Note: Well done Chris, you're doing superb work.
