A Cleaner River Lune
06 May 2014
Following the success of MVS Morecambe Bays successful litter-pick afloat last August the team were keen to repeat the event, which they did on May Day Bank Holiday Monday.
Four members of the unit were joined by Sarah and Debbie from the Lune Rivers Trust and they spent two hours working their way from Skerton Weir up to the Lune Aqueduct and then Halton Camp.
The difference between MVS litter-picks and those conducted by other volunteer groups is that they are done afloat.
The unit removed a total of five bags of litter from the river, most of which was plastic and metal.
They also recovered a bicycle wheel and a plastic-wrapped wooden pallet.
