The Tewkesbury based Severn Unit celebrated their 15th Trafalgar Night Dinner with a record attendance of 35 members and guests.

HOU Nic Price said, “This year we held the event in our new venue of Brown’s Restaurant who provided an excellent meal and made the whole evening a great success.”

The unit welcomed as principal guests, Tewkesbury Councillor Ken Powell, Avon Navigation Trust Director Paul Cronin and RVO David Frazier who proposed the toast to the Immortal Memory.

The unit has also been pleased to learn  that the MVS has been chosen as the lead safety organisation for the Tewkesbury Big Weekend 2016.

Paul Cronin from the trust paid tribute to the unit by reporting that £10,000 has been raised over the last couple of years.

He said, “a significant part of the money raised is from river activities and without the support of the MVS, this part of the event would not have been allowed to take place”.
