Port of Manchester returns to Windermere
Following a visit to Windermere in April, the Port of Manchester Unit has made a return visit to the Lake Wardens.
Four members of the Unit made their way north in driving rain to find the sun shining as they crossed the border into Cumbria.
The unit was joined by its newest member, Loan Nguyen as Steve Phelps explained the work of the wardens.
The team then went on the water to watch some very expensive boats being launched off the slip.
Halfway down the lake, a radio call was received that a vessel had lost all power.
The boat was turned around and Steve was able to show just what the craft could do as the team blue lighted to the middle of the North Lake.
A simple tow to the jetty beside the slip proved an easy rescue without drama, although it was strange to be in contact with Holyhead Coastguard’s watch room in the middle of Cumbria.
It was an enjoyable trip for Loan who said it was the best day of the year for her.
The unit intends to return to Windermere soon.
