End of Year Work for MVS Severn
2016 ended for the Tewkesbury based Severn Unit as it had begun on a busy note, but members also had time to enjoy a social event to round off the year.
Head of Unit Nic Price said, “Just before Christmas nearly all the arches of King John’s Bridge had become blocked with floating debris brought down by floodwater, so a team of us used our Rigiflex dinghy along with our cruiser Minerva to clear it away.
It is essential that this job is done otherwise the flow of the river is impeded.
We had never seen so much debris piled up and it took a good while to clear it”.
The unit also held their annual Christmas Muster along with visitors from the Bristol and Cardiff units who gathered to watch some nautical videos and enjoy a festive supper.
