Canal Safety for Historic Manchester Race
10 April 2017
MVS Port of Manchester received a late call asking for their help with safety at the annual Radcliffe 10K Trail Race which takes place in part along the Manchester Canal.
Volunteer Anthony Bonney stepped up to man the canal section with throwline and 1st Aid facilities, providing vital safety for the 248 runners taking part.
HoU Ian Hopkinson assisted by manning a water station at the finish.
The Radcliffe Athletic Club donated the takings from the traditional post-race cake sale to the unit which totalled almost £250.
The unit also received a substantial donation from an anonymous member of the local community.
