East Sussex Launches its 2017 Scout Training Programme
Members of the East Sussex Sovereign Harbour Unit have been busy delivering their youth training programme to local Scouts.
Over the late May bank holiday, seven MVS members were involved in teaching safety and nautical skills to Scouts attending the Senlac District Scouts annual water activities camp at Lydd.
The MVS sessions, which were taught ashore, complemented a packed three days of activities afloat run by the Scouts.
In the following week the MVS national training vessel East Sussex 1, which is funded, maintained and operated by the Eastbourne based MVS unit, ran two evening sea experience trips for the 1st Seaside Eastbourne Scouts.
The Unit will be taking out more Scouts on East Sussex 1 during the summer term as well as groups from the Nautical Training Corps, Sea Cadets and Bexhill Sailing Club Cadets.
