MVS at Medway River Festival

This year’s River Festival marked the double celebration of two important anniversaries, Medway Districts 20th and The Historic Dockyard, Chatham’s 400th.

The River Festival also helped form part of Festival 400 – a year long calendar of exhibition, activities and events that celebrate the world’s most complete dockyard from the age of sail.

The Medway Unit provided an information stand on land for the expected 10,000 visitors and also played a significant role afloat.

The MVS regional vessel LONDINIUM 1 acted as the command boat for the river events as well as a safety cordon boat for the display area which was staged adjacent to the Historic Dockyard.
This was the first official duty for LONDINIUM 1 since it was relocated to the River Medway.

The event was a good opportunity for MVS Medway to demonstrate their capabilities and make good contacts with the public and local civic and maritime authorities.
