The General Election and the MVS

A message from the Chief Volunteer Officer

Members are respectfully reminded that they are not to involve the MVS, by whatever means, in any respect of partisan comments relating to either the General Election or Brexit.
This applies to all MVS activity including social media.

The following is an extract from the Charity Commissions CC9 guidance document.

Legal requirement: to be a charity an organisation must be established for charitable purposes only, which are for the public benefit.
An organisation will not be charitable if its purposes are political

Legal requirement:  A charity cannot exist for a political purpose, which is any purpose directed at furthering the interests of any political party, or securing or opposing a change in the law, policy or decisions either in this country or abroad.
