Severn unit give Bavarian visitors a very warm welcome

Tewkesbury based Severn Unit have hosted two parties of visitors from Bavaria during this year at the request of Kevin Cromwell who is one of the co-ordinators for the Tewkesbury Twinning arrangement
Head of Unit Nic Price said “The first visit was at the end of February when a party of students and their teachers joined us for a trip up the River Avon. Despite it being one of the coldest days of the year they all much enjoyed themselves and had the opportunity to have some boat handling experience. Then at the end of July on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far we hosted a party of adult visitors from a Bavarian Medieval Association who had come to Tewkesbury for the annual Battle of Tewkesbury Medieval Festival. The Unit laid on three boats to take them upto Strensham Lock where they helped lock through MVS Minerva and they were very interested to see how a lock works. Following their boat trip Severn Unit members joined our visitors for an excellent fish and chip supper on the lawn at Tewkesbury Marina.”
