Royal welcome at AGM
Royal welcome at AGM
The MVS’s Royal Patron Prince Michael of Kent, pictured above, welcomed members attending this year’s AGM, held on 15th November at the Networx building at Blackfriars, London. In a speech read by outgoing Chair of Council David Hughes, Prince Michael wished the MVS “a very successful AGM and year ahead”. He concluded: “As your Patron, I will continue to look out for opportunities and give whatever help and support I can. I look forward to being able to meet more of you over the forthcoming year.”
Sixty-five members attended the meeting, 43 of them in person at Blackfriars, as shown in the picture, with the others joining online. The formal business of the AGM took place in the morning session with David handing over to the new Chair, Susan Hawker, for the Afternoon Conference.
Julie Scorer, backed up by Lee Scorer, took members through the details of registering on the MVS database using the MVS Portal. This major project, set to be a game changer for the administration of the charity, is being generously provided and developed by information technology company Jigsaw.
As new Chair, Susan then led an animated but good natured open forum which discussed various topics raised by members.
Heartfelt thanks go to HoU Gravesend and Medway David Davidson who arranged for the use of the venue and to Mrs Davidson who kindly provided sandwiches and snacks and to the team who manned the door and escorted members to the meeting room.
A full report on the AGM, including details of awards presented to individual members and MVS Units, will be included in our next Newsletter
