Oil spill response training for MVS officers
Last Autumn two members of the MVS Head Office unit completed specialist oil spill response training with Crouch Harbour Authority, strengthening local and national pollution response capability.
Specialist Volunteer Officer John Allam and Volunteer Officer Mike Robarts took part in First responder / operational level Tier 2 Oil Spill Response training delivered in collaboration with Crouch Harbour Authority’s Harbour Master’s department.
The onshore training forms part of the MVS Community Response plans and ensures that trained MVS personnel can integrate directly into the harbour authority’s pollution response arrangements. Following completion of the course, both officers are also included on a national register of trained responders who may be called upon by Government agencies if required.
The session reflects continued cooperation between MVS and Crouch Harbour Authority, supporting preparedness for pollution incidents and enhancing protection of the local marine environment.
