On Sunday 1st February members of MVS Putney helped clear floating rubbish from the Thames between Albert Bridge and Hammersmith Bridge . Using their two Unit craft they collected several sacks of plastic that posed an environmental hazard..

Head of Unit Phil Morgan-Anstee commented: “Putney has recently gained new recruits, and part of their training is providing Environmental Patrols. This helps in not only using the River Thames but appreciating the importance of helping to keep it clean. Members develop their boat handling skills and take pride in protecting the environment both on and off the water.”

He added: “Our RIB Seax is sign-written with Maritime Volunteer Service so hopefully this kind of patrol raises the profile and amazing work of our organisation. Our recently assigned Rogiflex 400, the orange boat in the photo, will also soon be decked out with decals.”
