Positive AGM in Portsmouth

agm2015

It was a very positive AGM this year which was hosted by the Portsmouth Unit and held at the prestigious Royal Maritime Club.

The theme of the AGM this year was ‘governance and reporting’ and all the management reports reflected this.

During the meeting, John Spencer-Barnes, Ian Foreman and Rodney Morgan were elected as member trustees / directors and we also welcomed Graham Hedley who is the new Company Secretary.

Chris Todd who told the AGM last year that he was standing down as AVO (North), was back in circulation as Vice Chairman of the service.
Chris has also spent the last few months filling in as Company Secretary.

Council has also appointed Glynis Northwood-Long as National Fundraising Co-ordinator.

Treasurer of Severn Unit Gordon McDonald became the new RVO for Bristol Channel Region during the meeting.
HOU Severn Nic Price said, “We are all delighted for Gordon.
David Frazier who has been our RVO for nine years has stepped down and was presented with his long service medal for 15 years in the Service.”

The afternoon speakers were Richard Falk, the Chief Examiner from the RYA, Ian Hoult, Head of Resilience with Hampshire County Council and Clive Edwards, the Commodore of the Merchant Navy Association Boat Club.

The evening event was also excellent with good food and company and the Guest of Honour, Captain John Sail, Master Mariner, and the Chair of the Merchant Navy Association.
