MVS Poole marks Merchant Navy Day

To recognise Merchant Navy Day, Captain David Lockwood, who is a Poole MVS member, arranged for the Red Ensign to be flown on the Community Flagpole at Elvetham Heath in Fleet near where he lives.
This was arranged in conjunction with the Fleet Royal British Legion and Elvetham Heath Parish Council.
After a short dedication in the nearby Church the flag was raised and David read out a short passage about the Merchant Navy and Air Marshall Tyack, Chair of the Fleet R.B.L. read a short message from HRH The Earl of Wessex.
A small contingent of R.B.L members attended, with David’s family, including his father Peter also a Poole Unit member.
