Fun on the River for Chernobyl Children with Severn Unit

The Tewkesbury based Severn Unit have joined the local Sea Cadets from TS Otter to give a party of young people a great day out on the River Avon.

Head of Unit Nic Price said, “We were pleased to be able to assist the Sea Cadets and help the charity which annually invites a party of children over from Belarus who have suffered from high levels of radioactivity since the explosion at Chernobyl 30 years ago”.

The idea of inviting them to the UK is that their immune systems can benefit from a cleaner environment and to give them enjoyment and fun at the same time.
