MVS Supports the Nautical Training Corps

Five adult instructors and three senior cadets from the Nautical Training Corps have enjoyed a sea experience trip on the MVS’s National Training Vessel East Sussex 1.

ES1 sailed from Eastbourne to Brighton to pick up the NTC party and then spent several hours out in the English Channel.

This was the first time most NTC instructors and cadets had sailed on anything larger than sailing dinghies and RIBs and the trip gave them the opportunity to learn how to steer a larger vessel and to plot positions on a chart.

Over the next few weeks the East Sussex Sovereign Harbour Unit plans to take out more groups of NTC cadets on similar trips on East Sussex 1 from both Eastbourne and Brighton.
