Offshore Venture for Severn Unit
In early June, ten members of the Tewkesbury based Severn Unit embarked on their annual training trip down the Severn Estuary and Bristol Channel.
HOU Nic Price said, “We had hoped to go across to Cardiff and South Wales then make our way across to the Somerset Coast to Porlock and Watchet, but unfortunately due to the inclement weather which included Storm Force 9 Gales we had to make major alterations to our plans and instead we went into Bristol via Portishead”.
Nic also commented how, prior to the trip, Unit members David Peet and Will Fish rescued a woman who was a non-swimmer and had fallen overboard from her boat on the Avon near Tewkesbury.
He said, “We practice a man overboard exercise regularly and we were pleased it went well and we could help the lady to safety”.
