Scout Leader Praises MVS Programme
The leader of a Scout troop who came out on the MVS’s national training vessel East Sussex 1 for an evening trip last month has thanked the East Sussex Sovereign Harbour Unit, which operates the 17 metre long ex-RN harbour launch.
In an email to the Unit Robert Firth explains how the Sea Experience programme run by the Eastbourne-based Unit fits in with the Scouts training programme.
Robert writes: “Scouting offers the opportunity for young people to try-out a wide range of activities and there is a diverse badge system that rewards this.
Although our Scouts all live near the sea, few of them have ever been out, except on cross-channel ferries.
So we are very pleased to have the MVS on-hand to offer the opportunity to take a boat out and learn a bit about the work of mariners.”
