Snow and Sport combine for MVS Poole

Members of MVS Poole have assisted stewarding the annual New Forest Festival of Running which was held in snowy conditions following the return of the “Beast from the East”.

The event was an opportunity to raise funds for the Unit and to raise the MVS profile locally.

Due to the cold temperatures the stewards locations were re-arranged to make sure that everyone had access to a car for shelter.

The forecast proved correct and on the first day a sleet storm blew through leaving a white covering all around.

On Sunday the weather was far worse as snow had fallen overnight but the runners still turned up with the lead runner of the half marathon finishing in just over 1 hour 29 minutes despite the terrible conditions.
