MVS Vessel Open to the Public

Members of the Sovereign Harbour-based MVS Unit are getting ready to welcome members of the public on board our Eastbourne-based national training vessel East Sussex 1 over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Our volunteers have been working hard over the past two months, while the 17 metre long ex-Navy launch has been ashore in the boatyard for extensive maintenance work and repainting, to make sure she is in top notch condition for a busy season ahead.

Head of Unit David Hughes said: “We look forward to showing off our vessel to as many members of the public as possible.
We will be open all three days, from midday to 5pm, and will be very easy to spot, alongside a pontoon right in front of Sovereign Harbour’s Waterfront restaurants.
Children will also be welcome on board, and have the opportunity to ‘steer’ the ship, as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult.”
