As the Tall Ships sail out of Liverpool after a fantastic visit to the Mersey, the MVS team are reflecting on the work they did during the event and are looking for new volunteers to start a new unit in the city.

From the North West, unit members from Fleetwood and Port of Manchester were on hand to provide help and assistance to the race organisers in activities as diverse as collecting litter from the water to rescuing wildlife and towing vessels from one berth to another.
Joining the North-West units were members from across the Pennines in Humber and Northumbria units.
In total, around 20 members took part in around 175 hours of afloat training as well as providing an important service to the organisers.

Temp Regional Volunteer Officer (North West) Alexander Rodgers said: “The whole weekend has been a fantastic opportunity for our members both on and off the water.
We had three small vessels in attendance and it was such a valuable experience for us to put our skills in practice.”
