A historic lifeboat returned to the Tyne over Easter for the first time in more than 70 years.
The 101-year-old Henry Frederick Swan saw 30 years of service off the North East coast.

14 years of restoration by volunteers at the North East Maritime Trust in South Shields paid off as the boat was launched from the trust’s slipway workshop.
MVS Northumbria was on hand to mark the occasion along with the Tynemouth all-weather lifeboat ‘Spirit of Northumberland’ and inshore lifeboat ‘Little Susie’.

Angela Carrington, HoU at MVS Northumbria said, “It was a fantastic way to spend the Easter weekend.
It was an honour to see such a historic boat return to the Tyne with a really fantastic view of the proceedings from the water.”
