Severn Unit Kept Busy as Floodwaters Rise

Flood Jan 2023 3

The Severn Unit has been called out again as floodwaters rise in Gloucestershire.

Three members took their rigiflex workboat to Avon Lock at the request of the Avon Navigation Trust who were concerned for the safety of the “William James” their own 65ft widebeam which is moored in Tewkesbury.

Head of Unit Nic Price said, “We managed to reach the boat and moor her with extra ropes to much higher mooring poles which should hopefully keep her safe.”

Whilst the unit was out and operational, they also did a river patrol checking any other boats that were still on that part of the navigation.
