It’s Almost Time for MVS Day 2023

The MVS will be celebrating its own national day on Saturday June 3.
The annual event allows members of the public to find out more about the charity and its activities from units all around the country.
In Newcastle the MVS will be showing visitors around their boats at an event at The Quayside from 1.30PM.
John McDonald, Head of Unit at MVS Northumbria said: ”We are very proud of our nautical heritage and are looking forward to letting everyone know what we do as volunteers on the region’s waterways from the Blyth to the Tees and even Kielder Water.
“We take part in community events such as the Tall Ships Race and assist river authorities in exercises and regular river patrols.
The aim of the MVS is to keep the country’s maritime traditions alive and our practical training in seamanship, small boat handling, engineering and communications helps to achieve this.”
