Severn Unit on duty at Evesham Battle

The Tewkesbury based Severn Unit was invited for the second year to assist at the Evesham Medieval Festival by providing safety cover throughout the weekend.

HOU Nic Price said, “It was a big undertaking for the unit as we took three cruisers including our training vessel MVS Minerva to Evesham along with our Rigiflex dinghy.
This meant a seven-hour trip through six locks to reach Evesham.
Despite the inclement weather we patrolled the river throughout the weekend in the area of the living history camps and the arena where the jousting and the re-enactment of the 1265 Battle of Evesham took place.”
