Offshore Trip for Severn Unit

The Tewkesbury based Severn Unit have made an offshore trip down the Severn Estuary to Portishead.

The training vessel “Minerva” was accompanied by four other private boats from Severn Unit all crewed by MVS members along with another boat crewed by Bristol Unit members.

HOU Nic Price said “The flotilla of boats all gathered outside Sharpness Lock and we all proceeded together under the Severn Bridges to Portishead where we completely filled the large sea lock”.

During the rest of the week Severn Unit members had the opportunity to take some of their private boats to Cardiff and Swansea and gained valuable boat handling and navigation training in a different area despite the inclement weather and rough seas at times.
