Emergency Call Out in Storm Ashley for Severn Unit

24 October 2024
The Tewkesbury based Severn unit had a busy day on the morning of Storm Ashley.
The unit received an emergency call out to “Brock” a widebeam moored on the Town Moorings which was in imminent danger of breaking free in the rising flood water.
HoU Nic Price said “We were unable to take our rescue boat under King John’s Bridge due to the high river level so we had to attend the incident from the land.
Thanks to lassoing to the boat’s cleats across approximately 20 feet of water by our Head of Seamanship Tim Huckvale two extra ropes were attached to the boat fore and aft to help keep the boat safe”.
