Bristol Unit’s launch Laurie Corbyn rescued a surfer who was taking part in a protest in Bristol docks.

On 17 May Bristol’s Harbour Master requested MVS assistance with patrolling the harbour and making sure the Surfers Against Sewage protest ran safely.

Several Unit volunteers deployed, afloat and ashore.

The Laurie Corbyn assisted a struggling surfer who had run out of energy and took them onboard before safely handling them over to the Harbour Master.

In a another sign of the Unit’s good working relationship with the Harbour Master, on 5 June Bristol Port donated a Fibrelight Man Over Board Recovery Cradle.

On the same day the Unit trained in identifying suspicious packages and activities with a live exercise using the official HOT protocol.
