Lancashire Coastal and Maritime Group

On Friday 17th May our AVO North (Chris Todd) was asked to present an overview of the Maritime Volunteer Service to the members of the Lancashire Coastal and Maritime Group.  The group chaired by the the Head of Emergency Planning for the County is a sub group of the Resilience Forum.

Consisting of representatives from  Ports and Harbours with in the County along with local authorities. North West Ambulance and Lancashire Fire and Rescue are also represented as is the Lancashire Constabulary Emergency planning team. The Police provide an excellent venue within the Command and Control; suite at Hutton Hall.

Chris was able to explain the history and aspirations of the MVS nationally and locally. Contacts for the future were established, not least  Dan Christenson, who while working with the Offshore Wind Farms around Morecambe Bay is also a reserve officer in the Danish Navy.
