East Sussex Refit Continues in Eastbourne

MVS East Sussex 1, the training vessel based at Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne was lifted out on the 18th March for her periodic refit and MCA inspection.
Members of the East Sussex Sovereign Harbour Unit, which maintains and operates her, are hard at work on the task, which stretches both manpower and finances.
The work on the 37 ton steel craft includes scraping off, cleaning and re-painting the entire hull, applying anti-fouling, renewing sacrificial anodes, attending to any platework shortcomings and renewing handrails
The nature of the work has demanded sheeting-up to meet safety requirements and those of the boat yard which is another essential but time consuming and expensive task.
Providing all goes to plan, the return to the water is scheduled for May 23rd.
After sea trials and work-up, she will be able to take up her planned programme.
All Units and Members are welcome to sail aboard.
