Poole Members Visit the Condor Express
Although it was not a formal MVS visit, a group from the Poole unit went along to the Condor Express when she was alongside Poole Quay for an open day.
The occasion was to promote the Condor services to the Channel Islands and France and to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Condor Ferries which started in 1964 between France and Jersey and introduced UK services in 1987.
Since then they have operated a round the year service between Poole, Weymouth and Portsmouth to St. Malo and Cherbourg via the Channel Islands.
At present they operate 5 vessels, 3 fast ferries and 2 conventional ships carrying more than 1 million passengers and 200,000 vehicles.
The group was able to visit the Bridge and Engine Room and enjoy a coffee overlooking the harbour from the passenger lounge.
