Isle of Wight Unit at D-Day Parade

Members of the Isle of Wight MVS Unit were represented at the Seaview Branch of the Royal British Legion’s 70th Anniversary of the D Day landings parade.

Two new members of the MVS, brother and sister Zak and Emma Toogood, volunteered to push two wheelchair using veterans and were helped by the National Resilience Manager, David Dobson.

The MVS standard was carried by AVO Lynn Peppitt and the Merchant Navy standard by one of our members, Elizabeth Scott, who is also a MN cadet.

The parade marched from the top of the village down to the seafront where the salute was taken by the Lord Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Major General Martin White, CB, CBE.

There was a short service of remembrance before the poppy wreaths were taken by Bembridge RNLI, to be laid on the sea.
