Bristol and Severn Units at West Country Rescue Day
Members of the Bristol and Severn Units joined with 30 emergency services across the West Country to take part in the Annual Rescue Services Day at Burnham-on-Sea.
Nic Price Head of the Tewkesbury based Severn Unit said “It was a most exciting day with hovercrafts, lifeboats and an RAF helicopter performing displays in front of thousands of people on the seafront.
It was encouraging that we made contact with possible new members in the hope that a new unit can be started in that area.”
The unit also had the opportunity to talk with local emergency services about the flooding on the Somerset levels during the early part of this year and the similarities with the floods in Tewkesbury in 2007.
