Top national role for MVS Stalwart
The MVS has appointed Chris Todd to the position of Vice Chairman to help steer the organisation in the right direction concerning recruitment, finance, training and seamanship.
Chris who is a former police inspector, joined the Mersey (Birkenhead) Unit before quickly rising through the ranks to become Area Volunteer Officer for the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as taking on the role as Joint Chair of the MVS Committee of Management.
Chris is currently based at the Port of Manchester Unit that is active along the canal networks in the city and says that he’s looking forward to the challenges ahead. “I’ve always had a keen interest in the operational aspects of the charity and now I can switch my focus to strategic matters as well as essential activities such as fund raising and relationship building.”
He added, “I’m delighted to accept this important role and I’m also keen to keep my nautical skills fresh by training with my unit.
The MVS is a great charity and I’m proud to be able to serve it in whatever way I can”.
