Along with other MVS Units around the Country, the Port of Manchester Unit helped to mark Armed Forces Day by attending the festival held at Winton Park in Eccles on Saturday 25th June.

The MVS stand focused on Drowning Prevention Week, bringing the SAFE message to the public. “This was a great opportunity to get the message across to people at the start of the Summer” said PoM Operations Officer Anthony Bonney.
He added, ”we have just agreed to meet the local Guides and Brownies district team to arrange some training with their members”.

During the day the team welcomed one of the Deputy Lord Lieutenants of Greater Manchester, Lt. Cdr. Kevin M. Heakin RD RNR DL and Councillor Karen Garrido, the Ceremonial Mayor of the City of Salford.

The guests were interested to hear of the work that the MVS and what it can and does do across the city.

On his first outside duty, Vol. Freddie Brown said,  “it was a privilege to be there on Armed Forces Day & represent our unit”.
