The MVS came to the rescue of a Royal Navy RIB at the annual Bournemouth Air Festival.

The Poole Unit was tasked to assist a broken down boat that was drifting close to Bournemouth Pier.
Arriving at the scene the crew found a large Royal Navy RIB which they towed back to HMS Monmouth, a type 23 frigate which was lying at anchor well offshore due to the strong onshore winds.

The crew was delighted to hear that the commanding officer of the frigate had heaped praise on their professionalism and seamanship expertise.

The MVS has been supporting the four day festival for nine years by manning the exclusion zone and ensuring that pleasure boats remain clear of the flying area.
They also provide control personnel who liaise with the Flying Director.

Head of Unit, Trevor Ashworth said “I was very pleased with the way the Unit responded to the call and the difficult conditions over the weekend”.
