MVS engages at public events across the country

May 2026

Twickenham was once again the scene of the annual grudge match between the British Army and the Royal Navy. On Saturday, 2 May 2026, members of the Putney MVS were out in force collecting funds for their unit from the multitude of fans attending the rugby. The event was an ideal opportunity to engage with ex-service personnel and promote the role of MVS as well as collect funds to support the running costs of the unit based close to the stadium.
Head of Unit, Phil Morgan-Anstee said: “This annual fixture is an excellent opportunity to raise much-needed funds and promote the good work of the MVS in general and the Putney unit in particular.

Up in the North East of England, Northumbria Unit took part Blyth Harbour Day by hosting an information stand and talking to attendees about the service as well as offering water-safety advice. It was also an important opportunity for the unit to engage with other maritime agencies and organisations such as Blyth Tall Ship, Port of Blyth and the RNLI Blyth Lifeboat who were celebrating the amazing achievement of their 200th anniversary.

The MVS is not government-funded and as such relies on donations to fund our activities across the UK. Thank you to the public for their generous donations to both units.
